Ideal Inspiration Blogger Award

Firstly, I would like to say a special thank you to Krisna from happymamahappybaby.ca for nominating me for this award. I happened upon Krisna’s very captivating mommy blog one day and never looked back! She is a wonderful first time mom who gave birth during this pandemic and shares all the tips and tricks that are helping her through this period. Although we are worlds apart, reading Krisna’s blog and interacting with her has really made me feel like I have a friend on another continent because her openness and warmth always shines through. Please show some love to Krisna and check out her blog!

Q&A:

  1. What is your favourite dish?

This is a tough question to answer because I’m such a foodie! I think that if I had to choose between not having food for the rest of my life or losing music, I would live in silence as I savour the different flavours! Ok fine, I’m being dramatic. My favourite dish would depend on who is preparing it. If it is my husband, I would have to say an omelette. He has this awesome recipe that he spent weeks perfecting and takes nearly 20 minutes from start to finish. I know, I know, no one has that much time to wait for an egg, but trust me, this one is special. If I’m cooking, it would have to be salmon, and if it is my little sister Josephine dishing up, she’d better bring a cake!

2. What did you do for ‘me time prior’ to having kids?

Anyone who knows me in real life probably knows about my obsession with fitness. While I do not look like Brooke Ence (professional CrossFitter and movie actress), I have always loved to work up a sweat. I remember spending about four hours a day in the gym during my second year of university and cycling to different cities with my friends. Obviously I wasn’t able to keep that up when I graduated and got a full time job, but waking up before sunrise to fit in a sweat session before the busy day became my ultimate favourite thing to do..

3. How did # 2 change after you had kids?

Well, besides cutting down the amount of time I spent exercising, the only major change was shifting from individual training sessions to joining a CrossFit box (gym). Nowadays, I basically try to get as much high intensity movement in a short amount of time so that I can rush back to my other life, lol. I’ve also had to skip quite a few classes either from a rough night or from dealing with a sick baby, so I guess we can say that fitness isn’t my top priority anymore? When I have the time I make sure to go, but my family comes first.

4. What is the most challenging part of motherhood for you?

Most of my friends from university were able to party all night and sleep in during the day, but for some strange reason (maybe a really fine tuned body clock) I have never been one to sleep during the day. I even struggle to stay up passed midnight! Obviously life with a newborn meant waking up every few hours (or minutes) to feed and change the baby, sometimes even just to entertain them until they fall asleep. I definitely didn’t enjoy the long nights of interrupted sleep. In fact, I can’t really remember those first six months in detail because my brain just shut off.

5. What is the most adorable thing that your kid does that melts your motherly heart?

Gosh, just thinking about this question makes me smile because there are about a gazillion things that Gabby does that put the warm fuzzies in my heart. If I had to be specific and choose one, it would have to be her hugs and kisses. Transitioning from a toddler to a little kid is never easy for any child (that’s why they invented the term “terrible twos”) but there is just something really special about my daughter’s heart that makes this phase very different to what I expected. Don’t worry, I’m not about to brag about her being absolutely perfect, because she is not. Like every little one, she has her moments of frustration, she whines, cries and all of the other normal things kids do. Lately though, she seems to understand how her actions make us feel as parents, and immediately stops her tantrum to give a hug and a kiss, caresses us if she hit us during the tantrum, says “ohhhh” as she continues to caress and then seals it off with a kiss. It’s incredible that this little lady understands empathy and has a heart filled with so much love!

My Nominees:

Now here’s the most fun part of this award! I get to nominate the bloggers that I find inspiring. The list is long, but I figured I would mention the ladies who I’ve really connected with lately and have shown such amazing character (minus Krisna and Pooja because they’ve already responded to it 😅)

My 5 Questions For My Nominees:

  1. What is the thing you are most proud of?
  2. If you had one more day to live, what would you do?
  3. During this lockdown period, have you taken on new hobbies or discovered a new talent?
  4. What motivates you to keep going?
  5. Morning or evening? And why?
  6. What is the weirdest thing about you/ that you do?

Final Thoughts

Thank again Krisna for the nomination and thank you for being such an amazing woman. As I grow to know you more, your gentle nature and beautiful heart comes out even more!

To my nominees, you have all inspired me in very different ways and I really do look up to you. I’m looking forward to your answers and to your nominations! Have fun!

 😊
