Good Morning!

Well hello there!

It’s a bright sunny Saturday in South Africa and this got me thinking. Usually, the first thing I do in the morning is check my phone for any messages, check the notifications on my wordpress app, then hop out of bed to start my day. Today was a little different as I used the first few minutes to just lay in bed and listen to the birds outside, think about what I wanted to achieve this weekend then proceeded to have a 30 minute bonding session with my toddler – all before even touching the little black device. It felt good.

What do you do first thing in the morning?

    I know its a good morning when the galas (an Australian bird) are singing. It usually means the weather will be sunny.
    The first thing I do in the morning is check my WordPress notifications. It’s a bad habit… 😬

      Oooh I just found a video of galas on YouTube and they sound absolutely lovely! Definitely a good sound to wake up to 😊As for the morning habit, we all have something we need to stop ~ I’m still struggling with that 🙈

      Thank you Micah, I hope you have an awesome weekend too! Yes such a luxury indeed! I didn’t realise how much my phone takes away from quality time with family 🙈 hopefully this was a wake up call. What is your ‘good morning like’?

      1. Thank you. Yes, this is why we turn flight mode at bedtime and open it after we have made time for our morning. As you know from our ‘How to wake up better’ post, a good morning is when we spend time together and recognize each other first thing, have a slow breakfast, attend to the plants, and workout. All activities that are important for us so we prioritize them.

  3. The first thing I do in the morning, is just to have a moment of peace to myself. Just to appreciate the fact that I’m alive, after that I plan out my day. …You know it’s a good morning when you’re feeling at peace. ❤️

  5. I am really bad when it comes to checking my phone as soon as I wake up. Not opening your phone straight away must have done wonders for you!!

  7. I try to read my devotionals and listen to my Bible before I read notifications in the morning. I’ve been wanting to get up and go for a walk on my treadmill before starting work but I end up doing it at night right before bed. LOL great post!

      That’s brilliant! I used to do the same then listened to a podcast in the car on the way to work… but then Covid 🙈Even the evening walks are pretty cool~ you’ve got a nice routine I might need to snag!
