So life’s not always easy. Life’s full of ups and downs. A lot of times we get discouraged and start to feel like life’s not worth it anymore. We start to feel like everything’s crumbling. We feel hopeless. A lot of times we find ourselves in deep waters, right in the middle of the ocean. I won’t lie I’ve been there and it can be hard to convince yourself that there is indeed a light at the end of the tunnel. So I decided to write a letter of encouragement for anyone out there who might be going through tough times.
I am so excited to have Ruth on the blog today for this letter of encouragement post. We all need encouraging everyday, through the different trials of life. So thanks Rush for this timely reminder. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! – Shelly
Hello there lovely! You! Yes you! Life seems to suck right now, you are not in the best place, you are starting to feel like there’s absolutely no need for life. You feel incredibly sad, lonely, hopeless and frustrated. You are not alone. I’ve been there and so many other people have been there as well. Let’s get into this letter of encouragement!

Challenges Are Part of Life
Challenges are part of life and believe me, the myth of a life without challenges does not exist. In the last few days, I have seen so many people who seem to be going through a hard time and if you happen to be among those people, guess what?
You are loved, you are amazing, you are beautiful, you are needed, you are worthy of love, you can get through this, you are doing just fine, you are blessed, you are a light to the world, you are more than you know. The world needs you and no matter how difficult things are, there’s always light at the end of the tunnel.

You Can Overcome Whatever Hurdle Life Throws Your Way
The universe will never test us with something we can’t handle. So remember that if you are being tested with a particular thing, you are being tested because the universe knows that you can overcome it. The fact that you are alive is solid proof that things will get better soon and lines will fall in pleasant places. So just breathe, relax, take it easy on yourself and remember that indeed you are stronger than you think and you can overcome every challenge life throws your way.
Ignore The Self Demeaning, Negative Thoughts. They are Lies!
Negative thoughts will come. They are probably already there. During difficult times, whenever we are feeling down, that’s when the negative thoughts in our head grow louder. That’s when they seem true and overly believable. Ignore all those negative thoughts, they are huge lies.
It Only Gets Easier
A lot of times, I have found myself in dark places. I’ve been through a whole lot of challenges in life. Growing up, I wasn’t the most confident person. I felt unloved and unwanted. But believe me, it only gets easier. Everything happens for a reason and you’ve been given this life because you are capable of living it.

You Are Allowed To Cry
We tend to hide our feelings and just push them to the side. So many of us pretend and put on a smile during bad times and believe me, there’s nothing more exhausting than putting on a fake smile when all you really want to do is cry. You are allowed to cry, be sad and feel your feelings. Your feelings are beyond valid. You are allowed to cry, scream and feel your feelings but you are not allowed to give up.
You are more than the pain you feel. Hold on to hope. It’s okay to feel how you’re feeling. You’ll face this like the strong person that you are. Don’t give up! Keep fighting! One day, you’ll see the light at the end of the tunnel.
What Can You Do To Make Yourself Feel Better?
- Write down your feelings
Writing can be very therapeutic. It’s amazing how much just putting your feelings on paper can do. Writing is a great way to lift a considerable amount of the burden off you. Whenever I am going through tough times, just writing down how I feel makes me feel better. - Talk To Someone
Ever heard the sentence “A problem shared is a problem solved?! So many of us find it difficult to talk about our problems but here’s a thing! There’s absolutely nothing wrong with talking to someone about the challenges we are going through. Sharing your challenges with someone (a trusted person) doesn’t make you weak. When we bottle up our problems, they grow and become worse but talking about our problems helps us understand ourselves better and get valuable feedback from others. - Don’t Compare Yourself to Anyone
Comparison is the thief of joy. The human mind is subject to comparison but comparison is very unhealthy. Comparing yourself to others will only make you feel way worse. Comparing yourself to others will make you feel like you are not doing enough meanwhile you are doing just fine. Never compare yourself to others. - Practice Self Love
If you know me, you’ll know that I am a huge advocate for self love. You can honestly never go wrong with self love. While it is important to practice self love all the time, you need to practice self love even more during tough times. Practice self love, talk to yourself as kindly as you would talk to a friend. Be nice to yourself, encourage yourself, use positive affirmations, treat yourself to your favourite and most importantly, remember to not beat yourself up. - Just Breathe
Relax and just breathe. Everything is going to be alright maybe not today but eventually. Just breathe and have faith that everything will work out for the best. Breathe and remember that moving forward means taking things one step at a time. Do not worry. Worrying does not empty tomorrow of it’s troubles but it empties today of it’s strength so just breathe!

Amazing words! Thanks for sharing these tips and quotes, Ruthie and Shelly! I think there’s a particular stigma still with asking for professional help. Many feel like they don’t need it, they can sort it out themselves or it makes them feel weak, but it’s always helped me unpack my anxieties and worries, and provide a different prospective. Which is so vital for self-reflection!
Thanks so much for the comment hun. Ruthie really shared a good one ☺️
A positive and inspirational message! It’s easy to just throw in the towel when times are tough. Another quote I’d add to the list “It’s always darkest before the dawn.”
Thanks so much for reading and dropping a comment 😘
I feel for anyone going through difficult times right now. Covid and the effect it has had on our lives for such a prolonged time wears us down emotionally.
Laughter is the best medicine is more than a quote to me—I think it is a powerful healer, especially when shared with a family member or close friend. There were times when everything in the house seemed to be breaking or some ridiculous thing would happen at work and my wife and i would laugh at the pure absurdity of the day and somehow much of the stress would melt away.
Inspiring words! I’ve been pretty discouraged lately, but it’s easy to get trapped in a cycle of negative thinking. Knowing that the thoughts aren’t necessarily true is helpful.
So glad it could help you 😘😘
