Happy New Year!
We wished and prayed for it, we moaned and groaned. Some even slept and hoped to time travel into the future. Whatever the story, you can be assured that someone out there has thought about it. After all, the promise of a better tomorrow seemed much nicer than the reality of a global pandemic. And now it is here… it has finally come!
I know we always say it but don’t put much thought into the words “Happy New Year”. This time will be different though. Each time you hear those words or repeat them, remember the true meaning behind the phrase. A happy new year. Just that. Happy. One that isn’t necessarily better than the last but still happy nonetheless.
It may not always seem like it, but if you can breathe, have food and a roof over your head, you have the tools to be happy.
Personally, I don’t have expectations for 2021 for obvious reasons, but I have three wishes:
1. I hope that this year brings back the joy that 2020 took away from you.
2. May your life become better than ‘normal’ – even if nothing changes but you
3. May you use all of the life lessons that you have been forced to learn in a positive manner
No matter what happens, do not fret. We have all been through hell so we know how to navigate it.
Just remember that this year will be what you make of it.
This time around, let us write our own story! Let us have a happy, new year!
One last thing!
If you were not in lockdown, do share a little so that we can live vicariously through you. How did you spend your New Year’s Eve? What are some traditions that you follow?
