Favourite Christmas drink?
I am a fan of anything spiked. Caipirinhas would be my best Christmas pick, but I find myself always drinking sangria.
Favourite Christmas dessert?
Umm this is a bit of a hard one because some of the Portuguese desserts we had in my dad’s house were really nice. Here’s what’s on my dessert list for this season, but based on how I’m feeling today, I’d probably have to pick though Serradura 🙂
Favourite Christmas movie
A Christmas Carol is my all-time favourite. I don’t remember the first time I watched it but when I think of Christmas movies, that’s definitely one that comes to mind.
Do you like going out in the cold?
Does anyone like going out in the cold? I personally prefer warmer seasons, so luckily being in Africa means mostly warmer days. But it has to be nicely balanced, you know? I lived in Angola for 4 years and hated every minute of it because winter there felt like spring in South Africa!
Do you like eggnog?
I don’t even know what that is to be honest. But I’ve heard it’s spiked so I might like it… as long as the egg in it is just in the name. Otherwise, ew!
Where is your ideal Christmas vacation?
I would love to spend Christmas on an island some day. Possibly Jamaica because they seem to have good food!
Which book reminds you of Christmas?
The correct answer is the Bible. The whole thing points to Jesus Christ! But to answer the question, I think A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens hits the spot.
Have you tried fruitcake? How was it?
Yes I have! I absolutely love cranberry or raisin cake. I love banana bread. The only fruit cake I don’t like is this Portuguese dessert called ‘bolo rei’. I mean, it’s pretty looking at but no one in my family actually ate it. No, wait that’s a lie. I remember my brother making a turkey sandwich with that horrible cake on boxing day. That’s just how bad it is!
Favourite Christmas dish
Bacalhau com natas! I feel like this post has become more about Portuguese food than anything! Honestly though, I’m such a foodie so that’s not a surprise. In case you were wondering, the main ingredients are cod fish, potatoes and whipped cream.
Do you have a Christmas tree?
I do! And I’m very proud of it. It’s the first Christmas tree I’ve ever bought and it’s gonna grow with Spawn!
Christmas song you are listening to…
All I want for Christmas – Mariah Carey. That’s a staple 🙂
Thoughts on Santa Claus?
Refer to my post on Christmas traditions I do not follow. Spoiler alert, my views are in the title!
It’s pretty late in the game to be nominating anyone, but if you are keen on joining the fun, please do! Alternately, answer the questions in the comment section below. The questions will remain the same 🙂
